What is Gender-Inclusive Housing?

Gender-Inclusive Housing (GIH) allows students to room with other student(s) regardless of sex, gender, gender identity/expression or sexual orientation. Elon offers GIH options to help create an environment that acknowledges, appreciates and respects our diverse student body.

What you need to know about Gender-Inclusive Housing

  1. If you are interested in GHI, you can either select your roommate or be placed with someone else interested in Gender-Inclusive Housing.
  2. Limited scholarships are available for students with significant financial need who may also need to be assigned a single room. Please contact Residence Life.
  3. Students selecting Gender-Inclusive Housing assignments agree to the universitiy’s policy for filling vacancies. If a space in GIH becomes vacant, the current occupant will be contacted to discuss how to best fill the space. If needed, Residence Life staff will fill the space as is needed.
