Can I see a floor plan of my room?
Yes. After you receive your room assignment, you can use your Elon username and password to access the floor plan to your room.
Does my residence hall room have air conditioning?
All buildings and residence hall rooms on campus have air conditioning.
Does my residence hall have wifi?
All residential facilities are equipped with wifi. Read the Student Tech Guides to learn about Network Connectivity and television, including information on connecting their personal devices (laptops, mobile devices, smart TVs, Rokus, gaming consoles and more) to Elon’s network. The Student Tech Guide walks you through other technology resources as well. Student rooms are not equipped with telephone landlines.
Can I turn my bed into a loft or bunk bed?
All residence halls are furnished with beds, desks, dressers and/or wardrobes. All rooms have extra-long twin-size beds, except single rooms in Global, East and Colonnades. Those single room have full-size beds. Students are encouraged to use bed rails for beds that are raised into a loft or bunk bed. Bed rails and supplies to raise beds are available throughout the neighborhoods during Move-in Day. After move-in, students can submit a FixIt with Facilities Management to have supplies delivered to rooms. Bed rails can be installed on beds that are not turned into lofts or bunk beds.
All extra-long twin beds can be raised to a maximum height of 76 inches. Full beds can be raised to a maximum height of 36 inches. Students and families are responsible for adjusting the height of beds (raised or lowered). For more information, a how-to video is available under Resident Bed Construction.
Will I have a washer and dryer in my residence hall? How do I pay for it?
Washers and dryers are available at convenient locations throughout the residence halls, including Sloan, West, Virginia, Smith, Carolina Hook, Brannock and Barney, Kenan Pavilion, Cannon Pavilion, Global A-E, Colonnades A-E, Danieley Apartments A&F, Loy Center and East A-C. They are operated via Phoenix Cash, except at The Crest.
Can I smoke in my room if my roommate doesn’t mind?
No. Elon University residence halls and apartments are smoke free. Students are not permitted to smoke within 30 feet of any university building.
Will I be able to recycle?
Trash and recycling areas are provided in each residential facility. Most rooms on campus do not have trash/recycling cans in the rooms.
