What is the experience of a student from out West like at Elon?

You’ve come to the right place for that answer! How is North Carolina culture different from out West?

Southern hospitality is no urban legend. Expect to meet lots of people who will want to know your story, and plenty of passersby who will say “hello” as you walk around campus. Elon students are from all over the United States and various corners of the globe, so you’ll experience many different cultures on campus.

How many students from out West are enrolled at Elon?

Every year, we enroll between 30-50 students from out West into Elon’s incoming first-year class.

How do I get to campus from the airport?

The nearest major airport is Greensboro’s Piedmont Triad International (GSO), which is just 30 minutes from campus. Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU) is also convenient; it’s a 50-minute drive from Elon. Shuttles run from Elon to both airports, and you can easily catch a ride back to campus after holidays or when classes begin.

How is Elon growing its presence in the Western region?

Elon is committed to developing a strong foundation out West, with two admissions counselors located in the region. We have created more options for our alumni to connect and network with others in the Elon community out West. For the last decade Elon in LA, the university’s year-round internship program, has helped students connect with alumni and companies out West. As these programs grow, the university will continue its investment in alumni, families and students living in those areas.
