Senior Class Giving History at Elon University

Senior class giving has long been a tradition at Elon. Starting in the early 1900s, the senior class began to offer Elon College a parting gift, often directed towards beautification of the grounds. The senior class of 1900 planted a Norway maple tree on campus and the class of 1914 donated sixty silver maple trees to fill in bare spots on campus. The class of 1913 planted ivy around the trunk of the senior tree during a ceremony representing the purpose of leaving a living memento in Elon’s soil.*

Senior class giving has been in its current form for the last 15 years, your senior class gift is an opportunity to leave your memento and invest in the area of Elon most important to you.
