Sacred Spaces of London: FAQs
Who can travel with this group?
All alumni and friends of Elon University are invited to join the trip. This includes parents of current and former students and any family of alumni and friends.
Current undergraduate students (as of September 2025) and anyone under the age of 21 are not eligible to participate in this experience.
Do I need a passport or visa?
You will need a passport to travel and it cannot expire within 6 months after the date of our departure (expiration MUST be after May 8, 2025).
The United Kingdom does not require Visas for United States citizens traveling in the country for less than a 6 month long trip.
What if I have an issue while on the trip?
A Tour Manager who represents Insider’s Travel will be with the group at all times. Please contact them if any issues arise.
In addition, this trip does include medical and emergency insurance. A copy of the policy will be provided to you when you register for the trip.
What if my flight to Europe is delayed and I don't arrive for the start of the tour?
If you are late to arrive for the start of the tour for any reason, the group will be based in London the entire time. You can contact LD Russell and/or the Tour Manager to notify them and they will coordinate with you on how to join the group.
Does the trip cost include medical or travel insurance?
The cost of the trip does include medical and emergency coverage. We recommend you read through the insurance document provided when you register for the trip to understand the extent of the coverage.
When you pay the 20% deposit for the trip and are sent a link for the included insurance, you will have the option to Add-On Travel Insurance to the already included policy. This will be at a cost of $200 and is optional.
I have mobility concerns, should I join this trip?
We welcome all travelers, but request that you be in good health to participate on this tour. All of our tours involve a reasonable amount of walking (typically three to four miles per day), often uphill or on uneven or cobblestone streets. We regret that we cannot provide individual assistance; in such cases you must be accompanied by a companion who will assist you. Please note that many of our itineraries, for reasons beyond our control, do not accommodate wheelchairs.
What if I have food allergies?
While we do our best to accommodate food allergy concerns while traveling, we cannot guarantee zero cross-contamination.
Do I need to tip?
While the group is together, all tips (restaurants, tours, etc.) will be taken care of by the Tour Manager and were included in the cost of your trip.
While you are on your own or dining without the group, you can tip as you see fit.
Do I need to bring foreign currency?
Elon’s Global Education team tells students that foreign currency is not really necessary. Prior to departure, let your credit card company know you are traveling abroad. If you feel you need cash, you can get foreign currency from an ATM after you arrive. The fee for taking cash out of an ATM in Europe is less than the fee for exchanging currency before departure.
Will my cell phone work?
Most cell phone providers have the option to make your plan work internationally. Check with your cell phone provider about how to inform them that you will be traveling abroad and need cell access.
If you have any other questions, please contact Kendra Haskins in the Office of Alumni Engagement.
