Bias Education for Undergraduate Students
BE at Elon University
The Office of Inclusive Excellence, Education and Development (OIEED) offers educational opportunities that aim to proactively reduce identity-based bias and bias-related incidents. The OIEED offers a series of Bias Education (BE) workshops for undergraduate students under the following themes: BE Aware, BE Accountable and BE Advocates.
BE Aware
- Students will identify personal biases, attitudes and actions within themselves
- Students will learn how to recognize multiple forms of implicit, explicit, and identity-based bias
BE Accountable
- Students will increase their awareness to identifying identity-based bias
- Students will learn how bias education is a shared responsibility
BE Advocates
- Students will develop ways to empathize with those who have faced forms of implicit, explicit, and identity-based bias
- Students will create a foundation for anti-bias advocacy
