Brief Biography

Denise Amaya Teeters earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2014 as a first-generation college graduate. Following graduation, Denise entered the field of education as an Interpreter and Community Liaison for Spanish speaking families. In 2017 she joined Elon University’s Center for Access and Success supporting the Elon Academy and Odyssey Programs.

In August 2022 Denise transitioned to join the Isabella Cannon Global Education Center. She supports the international community by enhancing their experience on and off campus through dynamic collaboration and outreach with campus partners. 

Denise is a Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and a Responsible Officer (RO) overseeing compliance with U.S. immigration regulations (F and J visa advising). She assists international students in preparing for curricular and post-graduate professional development opportunities.

Denise is an active member of the North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) and NAFSA: Association of International Educators. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Higher Education from Appalachian State University.
