Brief Biography

After obtaining a journalism degree from Elon University in 2004, I joined the Burlington (N.C.) Times-News, first as a city reporter and later as a court reporter. I returned to my alma mater in 2010 to serve as assistant director of academic communications, a role I held until October 2012, when I transitioned into the role of assistant director of alumni communications. I later became the director of publications (2017) and currently serve as assistant vice president of marketing communications. In this role, I work with the Vice President for Communications & Marketing in the creation and implementation of a university-wide strategic, integrated marketing communications plan designed to build and strengthen the university’s reputation and positioning in the national higher education landscape. I lead and manage a team of talented marketing and communications professionals to provide creative and strategic efforts focused on student recruitment, alumni engagement, fundraising campaigns, brand awareness and the university’s ongoing strategic plan and special initiatives. I also serve as the editor of the award-winning Magazine of Elon, the university’s flagship publication that is distributed three times a year to alumni, parents and friends. I’m originally from Peru but have called North Carolina home since 2000.
