Before You Begin
Elon Innovation Council (EIC) members look to fund proposals that are thoughtfully written, supported by evidence, and clearly aligned with its mission to fund innovation projects that help us reimagine our practices and deepen our values, our intellectual community and our great work at Elon University.
A good proposal will:
- Describe a feasible project that can be supported by the grant award
- Avoid disciplinary jargon whenever possible
- Be clear, concise and complete (all questions are answered)
A compelling proposal will:
- Articulate how the work supports current trends or growing areas on campus
- Identify clear outcomes
- Demonstrate how potential outcome(s) will directly benefit and/or impact the university or the community
- Provide clear and adequate details about budget, timeline and financial assistance requested
The proposal structure of EIC grants consists of the following sections:
- Project Summary (300-word limit)
- Introduction
- Project Objectives
- Plan of Work
- Broader Impact to the University & Community
- Budgetary Details
Make sure to include an implementation plan & timeline in your Plan of Work. Your budget should also include details and a justification for all expenditure.
It is recommended that you prepare your proposal as a Word document. Once you have completed your document, you may access the EIC grant application form our proposal. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Elon Innovation Council Chair: Scott Wolter, swolter2@elon.edu.
