Faculty/Staff Exiting Elon
Exiting Elon Checklist
This checklist will assist you with your employee’s last days of employment with Elon University.
- Complete the Personnel Action Request form. Please attach a copy of the resignation letter to the form (if applicable).
- Have the employee turn in any property of Elon University (ex. keys, uniforms, procurement card, Phoenix cards, parking passes, etc.) directly to you. The Supervisor is responsible for turning these items into the correct department. (Retirees may keep their Phoenix cards and parking passes.)
- Any university-owned technology, including computers, mobile devices and DUO key fobs should be returned to the Technology Service Desk at 114 W. Lebanon Avenue, Elon, NC 27244 or the Law School Technology Service Desk at 201 N. Greene Street, Greensboro, NC 27401. Please review the Computer Policy for more information about turning in hardware upon leaving.
- When faculty or staff members resign or are terminated, their accounts are disabled immediately after their last day of work and then deleted after one hundred eighty (180) days. Any exception to this policy statement must be approved.
- Retirees may keep their email account active. All Elon accounts, regardless of affiliation, will be disabled after 365 days of inactivity and deleted after 180 in disabled status.
- The employee will receive important information from the Office of Human Resources regarding the Exiting Elon process. (i.e., benefits information and exit interview, etc.)
