Although there are many professional development programs and resources offered through our office and University partners, we recognize that staff may need something more specialized to achieve their professional goals. Professional development funds, also known as grant-in-aid, are available for those who need extra funding for materials (e.g., books), tuition and registration fees, and travel costs.

Grant-in-Aid funding is limited and awards typically range from $100-$300 per year. Grant-in-Aid requests should be tied to your professional development goals. It would be helpful, if departments could provide matching funds.

Grant-In-Aid Process

Applying

  1. Download and complete the OLPD grant in aid application.
  2. Send the completed and signed form to Chris Leupold, Campus Box 2337 (or email a scanned copy to cleupold@elon.edu).

The Staff Professional Development Committee’s Grant-In-Aid subcommittee will review the application at their next meeting. You’ll be notified within a few weeks of submission about whether or not you’ve been approved for funding and the amount.

Reporting

Once you’ve completed your professional development, we’d like to hear back from you about how the funds contributed to your professional development goals. We use this feedback to help us better understand the impact these funds have on the University community.

  2. Send the completed and signed form to Chris Leupold, Campus Box 2337 (or email a scanned copy to cleupold@elon.edu).
