Earth Day Every Day

Living sustainably is important to do every day, not just April 22. The Office of Sustainability’s Earth Day Every Day program is a series of engaging events and activities designed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices.  These events aim to inspire students, faculty and staff to join together in community to adopt more sustainable habits and celebrate the planet.

Planting for the Planet | Friday, August 30 from 2-4 pm at Elon Community Garden

Are you interested in getting involved with sustainability at Elon? Join us at the Elon Community Garden to connect with like-minded individuals and enjoy creating your own houseplant to take home.  We’ll provide plants, soil, and pots. Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are always welcome!

Elon Farmer’s Market | Thursday, September 5 from 3-6 pm at Elon Community Church

Join us to support local farmers, enjoy fresh seasonal produce, and find unique handmade goods! Visit the Office of Sustainability’s table for a taste test of “ugly” produce and grab a free reusable bag.

Mental Health Hike | Friday, September 13 from 2-5 pm at Shallow Ford Natural Center

Nature offers endless opportunities to improve your life! Hiking allows us to tap into multiple areas of well-being and engage our senses. Join the Office of Sustainability, Counseling Services, and the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education for an inclusive hike to experience and explore the ways being in Nature can support your holistic wellness.  Transportation provided.  Registration required.

Sustainable Leadership | Friday, September 20 from 2-6 pm at LaRose 200

Are you interested in saving the planet? Or… is that too much? Maybe you just want to learn more and figure out where you can help make a sustainable impact.

Join the Office of Sustainability and the Center for Leadership to explore your leadership strengths and understand how these strengths can be used in sustainability work.  We’ll look at meaningful ways you can support climate solutions by delving into your strengths, joys, and passions. Registration required.

Loy Farm Open House | Friday, September 27 from 4:30-5:30 pm at Loy Farm

Loy Farm features a solar farm and the Elon Environmental Center, which includes the responsible design studio, forest classroom, and agricultural farm as well as the brand new EcoVillage community. Students, faculty and staff will be available to talk about the sustainability initiatives taking place at Loy Farm. Located at 2635 W. Front St. in Burlington, the farm is a short walk, bike ride or drive from main campus along the greenway path.

Star Gazing for Mental Health | Thursday, October 3 from 8-9:30 pm at Daniel Commons

The night sky has been a source is fascination for humans throughout history. Join Office of Sustainability, Counseling Services, the Historic and Danieley Center Neighborhoods we engage in nature in a unique and memorable way through exploration of the night sky. Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are welcome!
