About the Awards

Steven and Patricia House Excellence in Mentoring Award

The Steven and Patricia House Excellence in Mentoring Award, established in 2020 through a gift from Elon Executive Vice President Steven House and his wife, Patricia House, celebrates excellence in student mentoring — one of the markers of quality that has fueled Elon’s reputation as the national leader in engaged, experiential learning.

Periclean Award for Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility

Project Pericles, a national initiative of the Eugene Lang Foundation, advocates and supports the preparation of young people for socially responsible citizenship in a democratic society. The Periclean Award recognizes one faculty or staff member each year who has helped make social responsibility and participatory citizenship an essential part of Elon’s educational programs.

Distinguished Scholar Award

The Distinguished Scholar Award recognizes excellence in scholarship acknowledged by both the Elon community and by the larger community of the candidate’s discipline. Nominations originate from individuals holding faculty rank. Final selection is made by a subcommittee of the Faculty Research and Development Committee.
