Elon’s trained counselors are prepared to assist any and all students who may have questions or be struggling with topics ranging from identity development, coming out, gender transition, coping with stress, and building healthier overall behaviors and selves.
Same-day appointments are often available, and Counselors like to meet with students within 48 hours of your call. To schedule an appointment, please contact the Ellington Center at 336-278-7280. For emergencies, dial 911. For non-emergencies after hours, you can contact Elon’s SafeLine at 336-278-3333 to get connected to someone on campus, or you can utilize the hotline for The Trevor Project – Call at 1-866-488-7386 or Text the word TREVOR to 1-202-304-1200.
To learn more about our Counseling Staff, please see the Counseling Staff Bios. Additionally, Christine Borzumato-Gainey is a member of the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Issues in Counseling, which is a professional association highlighting hot topics and emerging areas facing LGBTQIA students on university campuses.
Off Campus
Additionally, a number of our transgender students have sought additional counseling off-campus, specifically related to topics ranging from gender transition, hormone therapy, and longer-term counseling needs. We would like to offer Tree of Life Counseling as an option devoted to students who may be questioning their gender identity or simply seeking counseling or advice about their ongoing transition.
