Welcome Elon Law Students!
Your physical and emotional health and well-being are important to us! Below are main campus, Alamance County, and Guilford County area resources for health and counseling services. Please take a few minutes to become familiar with the resources available to you as an Elon Law student. If you have any questions or need help securing medical or psychological resources, please do not hesitate to contact our staff. Health Services can be reached at (336) 278-7230 and Counseling Services can be reached at (336) 278-7280.
Main Campus Resources
Elon University offers a wide variety of health and counseling services to our law students, faculty, and staff throughout the school year in our newly renovated facility on South campus. All law students, faculty, and staff are eligible to receive services at the R.N. Ellington Center for Health and Wellness.
A variety of medical expertise is offered by the staff of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, certified medical assistants and nurses to bring quality, efficient service and care to the university community. All counselors in the center are fully licensed by the State of North Carolina and offer brief, solution-oriented therapies.
Health Services
The R.N. Center for Health and Wellness offers medical services to the students, faculty, and staff of Elon University through Student Health Services. Providers are available during hours of operation to evaluate, treat and assist students, faculty and staff with their medical needs.
To make an appointment, call (336) 278-7230 or you may also schedule on-line through PhoenixHealth (patient portal). For instructions on accessing PhoenixHealth, see the Health Services homepage. Some users may need to clear cache to access PhoenixHealth (hold down shift and hit refresh). Please call to schedule your appointment if you are not able to schedule online.
Student visits to Student Health Services and Counseling Services are free of charge. There are nominal charges for medications, lab tests, procedures and medical supply items. When the Student Health & Counseling staff orders x-rays, emergency treatments, or a referral to an outside provider, any charges incurred are the responsibility of the student.
Charges for services and medications incurred at Health Services may be paid at time of service (cash, check or Phoenix card) or billed to the student (payment is made at the Bursar’s office).
For more information, visit the Health Services website.
Counseling Services
During your years at Elon you may want help and guidance in dealing with emotions, gaining self-confidence or finding your own set of values. Counselors work from a solution-focused, short-term orientation emphasizing client strengths.
Counseling Services is located in the R.N. Ellington Center for Health and Wellness on south campus. Office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
Please be sure to visit our Confidentiality page for information about e-mail.
Counseling Services attempts to see clients in a timely fashion. Every effort will be made to work with your class or work schedule. Because demand for our services is high, try to schedule an appointment as early as possible if you have concerns by calling the main number at (336) 278-7280. Messages may be left on confidential voice mail for the counselors or the program assistant.
From time to time the center is quite busy. You may find that it takes a few days to get an appointment. We urge you, therefore, not to wait to call until you feel you are in a crisis. Try to schedule an appointment as soon as you begin to develop concerns. If you are experiencing considerable distress at the time of your call, please make this known to the staff immediately.
If your concerns are of a critical nature during regular business hours, you may come to the Counseling Center between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and we will arrange for you to speak with someone as soon as possible.
After normal business hours, we encourage you to contact Campus Safety and Police at (336) 278-5555. The counselor on call will be paged and will contact you. If you feel suicidal and/or are concerned that you may be in danger of hurting yourself or another, you may go directly to the emergency room of your local hospital.
For more information, visit the Counseling Services website.
Please note that student health and counseling records are confidential and can only be released with the signed permission of the student.
