Elon University
The prediction, in brief:

The WWW is OK, but eventually people get bored (it’s the old ViewData problem: nobody wants to view data!). What people need is interaction with other people, and that’s what MUDs give them.

Biography:

Richard Bartle of the University of Essex developed the first MUD, known as MUD1, with Roy Trubshaw in 1979. MUDs and MOOs grew in popularity and had participants from around the world. (Research Scientist/Illuminator.)
