Elon University
The prediction, in brief:

Privacy is under seige. The issues are especially vital today as more and more of our privacy is stripped away. And the notion that information can be kept secret to any degree may simply vanish in cyberspace.

Predictor: Alderman, Ellen

Prediction, in context:

In their 1995 book “The Right to Privacy,” Caroline Kennedy and Ellen Alderman write: ”The word ‘privacy’ does not appear in the United States Constitution. Yet ask anyone and they will tell you that they have a fundamental right to privacy. They will also tell you that privacy is under seige. The issues are especially vital today as more and more of our privacy is stripped away. And the notion that information can be kept secret to any degree may simply vanish in cyberspace. We look to the future and the privacy issues looming in the high-tech world of cyberspace. The law is lagging far behind in this area and we are making up the rules as we go along. So on the eve of the 21st century, we will have to decide anew: What can we as Americans reasonably expect to keep private?”
