Elon University
The prediction, in brief:

Any of our portfolio companies that are not looking at the Internet are playing Russian roulette with all chambers loaded.

Predictor: Breyer, James

Prediction, in context:

In a 1995 article for The Austin American-Statesman, Laurie Flynn writes about investments in Internet companies, quoting James Breyer. Flynn writes: ”By all accounts, the number of content developers and software companies vying for capital is skyrocketing. Accel Partners of San Francisco, one of the most active Internet investors with $20 million placed, receives as many as 100 new business plans a week, up from roughly 10 a week a year ago, according to James Breyer, a general partner. Also an early investor in UUNet, the company is now looking at software and has invested in two start-ups in the education market and a company called Illustra, with software for multimedia Internet developers. ‘The last new platform we saw that provided more entrepreneurial opportunity was the PC in the 1980s,’ Breyer said. ‘Any of our portfolio companies that are not looking at the Internet are playing Russian roulette with all chambers loaded.'”
