Elon University
The prediction, in brief:

A PC-like device will be in every home if it provides digitized voice, video and data through the Internet.

Predictor: Nishi, Kazuhiko

Prediction, in context:

In a newsletter article reporting on the Internet Society’s INET ’95, George Grimes, dean of learning resources and technologies at Eastern Michigan University, quotes a speech made by Kazuhiko Nishi, founder of ASCII of Japan. Grimes writes: ”Kazuhiko Nishi, founder of ASCII of Japan, was the final keynoter. He was introduced as Japan’s Bill Gates. As he started his talk, ‘Internet and Consumer Electronics: Proposed Scenario for Internet Becoming Third Media After Telephone and Television,’ he did a parody on Bill Gates’ quote, ‘In the future there will be a computer in every home.’ Nishi believes that it will not be in every home for word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail. ‘A PC-like device will be in every home if it provides digitized voice, video and data through the Internet,’ Nishi said.”
