The article says: ”Most important of all, Meckler said, is that companies take the Internet seriously as the next great medium of communication. Businesses must get on the Internet now, he said, before competitors beat them to it. ‘In 1948, people were wondering how they could make money on TV. But TV was very linear, doesn’t change. The Internet is very dynamic. With the right concept, a company on the Internet will be as powerful as a CNN or an NBC. You’re going to see companies like Quicken that are going to create business services for the Internet. There are hundreds of people right now literally in their garages, working on shoestrings on some great products.”

Biography:

Alan M. Meckler was the chief executive officer of Mecklermedia in the early 1990s. His Mecklerweb was one of the first commercial web sites and his Internet World magazine was the first publication devoted exclusively to the Internet. His Internet World trade show and publishing business helped foster the growth and advancement of the Internet. In the mid-’90s, he sold Mecklermedia to Penton Media. He became CEO of Internet.com Corporation and later built it into Jupitermedia Corporation, which became a leading provider of global real-time news, information, research and media resources for information technology and Internet industry professionals.
