The day is coming very fast when every cop will be issued a badge, a gun and a laptop.

Predictor: Rinkevich, Charles

Prediction, in context:

The 1995 book “The Information Revolution,” edited by Donald Altschiller, carries a reprint of the Jan. 23, 1995, U.S. News & World Report article “Policing Cyberspace” by Vince Sussman. Sussman explores First Amendment rights in cyberspace. He writes: ”If ever a buzzword buzzed too much for traditionbound law enforcement, it’s cybercop… Agents snickered when senior instructor Kevin Manson first used the world a couple years ago at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center near Brunswick, Ga. Nobody at FLETC laughs much anymore. They are too busy training cybercops. ‘The day is coming very fast,’ says FLETC’s director, Charles Rinkevich, ‘when every cop will be issued a badge, a gun and a laptop.”
