Topic: Technology
Headline: The Merging of Television and Computing
Nutshell: Flat screens throughout your household let you surf the net, display pictures (that change) and browse thousands of television stations through the net.
Vision:You walk in to your house. Instead of your remote, you pick up a hybrid mouse/remote with a simple interface. All information is entered on the screen through a cursor. The plasma screen has its own CPU and OS. Do you want to watch TV, display a digital fish tank, bring up an important document? All of this can be done with a simple handheld device and intelligent screen (plasma as the price comes down enough to own as many as 10 in a household). This is lightyears beyond WebTV. The key is simplicity and transparent integration between TV and Computing.
