Vision:Well I did it. Yesterday I purchased my new XL5.3 portable-mini and it rests securely in my wallet as I speak. The wireless headset (mic, speakers,pop-down viewer) that comes with it is light, and is almost completely invisible. But even if you saw it, it wouldnt be out of place, as most everyone wears one now. So what if I will be paying for it for 3 years, the enhancements to my life now are unlimited.
Already, I used it for instant traffic updates while driving to work, I watched my favorite TV show during my lunchbreak and watched 15 minutes of ‘Randy-online’ (course it wasnt too exciting, all he was doing was talking to coworkers). Randy’s portable-mini’s actually records and shows/stores every second of his life online. Course, I’m sure he edits out some things, but he swears his 3-year-old daughter will be the first person to have their whole lives recorded.
For others who might be interested in getting a portable-mini (if you haven’t already!) here are some features I recommend:
HomeView – Allows you to view/manage your home live (25 fps).
SinglesMeet – Prepare a presentation that is shown to anyone within 25-foot range who might be interested in meeting you. Meet others for live/one-on-one HDTV quality conferences. They host daily 5-minute ‘dates.’ Supposedly the program already boasts over 10,000 marriages as a result.
A Nation At War – Your country is at war, soldier. This social/economical/war game works with the theory of ‘a nation wins a war.’ You can storm huge battlefields with up to 20,000 other players at a time. If killing isnt your thing, help support your country simply by living in it (working in a factory, selling bonds, etc.).
Communicator2020 – My dad used to use Instant Messenger back in his day, now everyone uses this program. Perfect for all types of communications, voice, video, etc.
BuyItNow – Lets you browse and watch videos demonstrating a wide selection of merchandise. If you have a question, speak with a sales person (face-to-face).
OrganizIt – This personal organizer is a life-saver. Keep grocery lists, birthday notices, etc.
One of the most exciting things is just being always online, everywhere I go; instant communication, alerts, and information available at all times. It literally changes your life. When I am alone and depressed, I can quickly find a random person to talk to. While shopping at Wal-Mart, if I want to know the best vitamins to get, I can read 25 reviews. That strange snake that just bit my leg, look it up and see if it is poisonous while still hiking in the desert (ok that hasn’t happened, but if it did, I could do that).
So go out and get one… I like to too, because of the voice dictation, I haven’t typed a word of this. I just spoke it. :)
