Name: Josh

From: Minnesota

Bio: Heavy internet user with tremendous respect for the architects

Area of Expertise: Technology Developer/Administrator

Topic: Information Infrastructure

Headline: Wireless infrastructure

Nutshell: High-speed wireless networks connecting everything from the coffee maker in my car to the condition of the road you are driving on.

Vision:

I see wireless networks connecting to each other with technology to determine the shortest path to the target. This will enable a real world wide web of connectivity to anything with the appropriate technology.

The network will be backwards-compatible to account for those behind in the time. It will also allow intranetworks to keep their information confidential but still connected worldwide.

Cars will communicate with the highway and other cars; the highway will also communicate its damage to the cars to make suspension changes to create the best driving/riding environment for the occupants, and also make it last longer.

We will go from having wireless keyboards and wireless notebooks connecting to a local network to sending an instant message to my brother half way around the world sitting in a tractor.

Power sources will also be wireless. AM and FM radio will not exist because with the powerful high-speed wireless resources, perfect reception will be capable anywhere in the world. I can listen to my (previous) local radio station from the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Satellites will be obsolete because the wireless communications will instantaneous.

OLED’s will also allow mass communication via billboards that can be changed instantly, much like how you browse the web.

Miniscule processors will be in everything from the calendar on your wall to the chair you are sitting in.

To conclude, I hope I am around to see all of these things happen because I would love for my seat to be instantly customized to the shape of my rump.
