Nutshell: Since people are just a collection of information, we will eventually be able to literally BE on the internet.
Vision:Since people are ultimately just a collection of information (albeit a large collection) and with storage capacities increasing exponentially, eventually people will be able to stored on the internet (not sure if their "soul" will be able to be stored there also).
