Name: Tim Murphy
From: Illinois
Bio: Avid Internet user
Area of Expertise: Advocate/Voice of the People
Topic: Getting, Sharing Information
Headline: Going to a Parallel Universe
Nutshell: Logging on the internet will be logging into an entire second universe, to be explored, and expanded, by all.
Vision:The internet will be self-producing, with computers set up to expand the boundaries in predictable ways and carve more space. Webmasters will give their chunks of semi-real space, not just virtual, the unique qualities needed to make it human.
The world will start rather low-resolution, but in another decade, it will explode into a realm habitable by the mind for an eternity without even learning it all. Chat rooms will be parks or office buildings, depending on whether you upload your homework or tax forms to complete while away from "reality."
That internet will split off, like multiple Matrix worlds, each with a different set of governing rules and requirements. Within each one there will be a "normal" internet for low bandwidth easy connection.
