Nutshell: A marriage union of man and machine will eventually evolve into the independent rule of machines over man.

Vision:

In the not too distant future, the need for leaving the house will decrease considerably until that need all but disappears.

Computers and automated machines will play in increasing role in manufacturing and other labor-intensive jobs for which repetition is the principle ingredient.

Video conferencing will evolve into the virtual desk so that stepping into a specially outfitted or designed room will be like stepping into a workplace unrecognizable to any workplace we might experience today.

Computer operators at home will conduct meetings, perform work, and operate machinery from their own homes.

The same will be said of modern warfare. The faster and better you are on the computer and in the virtual realms, the more successful you will be.

Wherever automation is possible, it will exist, eventually finding its way into the house and then the family. At which point a new society of real technocrats will emerge that represent a union of man and machine called cyborg technology.

The true humans will become second-class citizens. Revolution will be nearly impossible since the technocrats will rule from an inaccessible distance. But time and human nature will separate the technocrats from an understanding of the technology that gives them their power. War and disease will be their undoing.

The age of the technocrats will disintegrate and Humankind will fall into another dark age in which remnants of the “old order” and its technology will still exist, yet not in its original glory.

Humanity will endure great suffering due in large part to the vile nature of human nature until society evolves yet again into a more civilized world. Meanwhile, a certain breed of “DNA” computers will also be evolving.

A new era will emerge in which man and independent computers coexist. The stronger, more durable computers, however, will prevail. At this point, men will finally fall into second-class citizenship and the computers will reign.
