Name: dawn
From: Wisconsin
Bio: Avid internet user, studied the progress of media
Area of Expertise: Advocate/Voice of the People
Topic: Community/Culture
Headline: No more cold snowball fights
Nutshell: People will lessen their face-to-face interaction so much that most of their activities will be done online, impersonally.
Vision:I am a member of Facebook, and in addition to posting pictures of yourself, sending messages to your "friends" and listing off aspects of you personality, the site is full of "interactive apps." Yesterday I received an invite to a "snowball fight" with my "friends." I could choose to throw "snowballs" at whoever I want, and get "hit" by others in return. I see activities like these hinting at how impersonal our relationships with our friends and relatives could become in using the Iinternet. We could still participate in "snowball fights" like we used to, only now we’ll miss out on the rush of getting hit, running, dodging, and aiming at others. We participate instead with the click of a button.
