A vision for the future

This is one of nearly a thousand foresight statements shared by people from around the world. To return to the Voices of the People home page or to refine your search, click here.

Name: Jon Kameya

From: Michigan

Bio: A lover of all media since elementary school, loving the internet was inevitable.

Area of Expertise: Advocate/Voice of the People

Topic: Controversial Issues

Headline: The RIAA in a Broadband World

Nutshell: The RIAA will be no more; the music will be free.

Vision:

Once the music industry realizes that file sharing is impossible to regulate with any efficiency, the physical media (CD’s, tapes, SA-CDs, etc) will become no more than the advertisement for live shows. In other words, the inevitability of free music will lead us down a path where CD’s are sold for little to nothing and file sharing is promoted and free to all. The musicians will make their living by playing live shows that are advertised through a world wide network of fans. Recorded music will be free.
