In February 2009, the Elon Law community created and adopted an Honor Code, and The Honor Council is responsible for the administration of the procedures set forth in the Honor Code created and adopted by students themselves. The Honor Council is elected by the student body and is responsible for the interpretation of the Honor Code.

The Chair of the Honor Council presides over all Honor Council trial panel proceedings, conducts meetings of the council, and serves as a liaison between the Honor Council and the Elon Law faculty and administration. The Chair of the Honor Council is John Pittman L’24.

The Vice Chair is responsible for meeting with the student body to explain the Honor Code and the function of the Honor Council and to provide such other education about the Honor Code as the Honor Council may consider necessary. The Vice Chair also schedules probable cause committee meetings and trial panels in the event of an alleged violation. The Vice Chair is Jordon Inzerillo L’24.

The Secretary is the duly appointed receiver of reported alleged Honor Code Violations. Once the Secretary receives as an alleged violation, the Secretary is responsible for appointing Solicitors, the Assistant Solicitor and, to the extent appropriate, Elected Defenders in any case before the Honor Council. The Secretary also maintains and manages all Honor Code files and transcribes Honor Council meeting notes. The Secretary of the Honor Council is Aashna Tarasaria L’24.

The Honor Code at Elon Law was founded upon the idea that students should be charged with the maintenance and perpetuation of the fundamental principles which undergird our institution – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Honor Council proudly upholds these principles in the administration of the Honor Code while working closely with students and faculty to see that every case is carefully handled within that framework. The Honor Council is committed to sustaining a fair and equitable environment for the Elon Law community. We encourage members of the Elon Law community to take the time to familiarize themselves with the Honor Code, as we are all held to the standards therein.

To report an Honor Code Violation, please complete the form below titled “Violation Reporting Form” (referred to in the Honor Code as EXHIBIT B). Once filled out in its entirety, please email this form to the Honor Council Secretary to begin the process of investigating the alleged violation.
