Ana Segal
Steering Committee Co-Chair: Ana Segal is a senior Music Production & Recording Arts major from San Francisco, California, with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities studies. After two rewarding years as the Director of Hospitality, Ana is beyond excited to step into the position of Co-Chair for this year’s conference, along with the amazing Conor Flood! Due to LWIA, Ana has gained a sense of confidence in her abilities as an MPRA student, and a huge sense of community through the mutual respect and recognition displayed each year in LWIA. She hopes other women and allies are able to find similar advantages through this year’s conference, and walk away feeling empowered and educated!
Conor Flood
Steering Committee Co-Chair: Conor Flood is a senior Music Production & Recording Arts major minoring in Communications from Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Working as a student recording engineer, he wishes to create an environment of respect and value for everyone in the studio and the arts. Last year he served as the Director of Marketing to engage with the Elon and greater audio community through his social media outreach. Conor is excited to get to coordinate the conference with the help of his fellow Co-Chair Ana Segal and the rest of the steering committee, Co-chairing the steering committee this year is a privilege and he wants to ensure all voices are represented to make the conference meaningful for all who attend.
Julia Towner
Co-Director of Hospitality: Julia is a senior Music Performance and Independent German Studies double major from Gastonia, North Carolina. After helping with the conference the last two years, she is excited to take on a leadership role as Co-Director of Hospitality for the Leading Women in Audio Conference. Julia loves being a part of LWIA because it gives female students a chance to see successful women in a male-dominated industry and she believes it is important to continue inspiring and empowering young women to follow their dreams, something that she sees happening at LWIA.
Eliza Spear
Co-Director of Hospitality: Eliza Spear is proud to be serving as the Co-Director of Hospitality for LWIA and the inclusivity and growth that this conference radiates. Eliza is from Los Angeles, CA and is a Music Production major with double minors in Entrepreneurship and Philosophy. Outside of this conference, Eliza works towards furthering her artist career and having spontaneous lunch dates with new acquaintances.
Emma Spencer
Art Director: Emma Spencer is a sophomore from Lexington, Virginia majoring in Communication Design and minoring in Business and art. As she continues working with The Leading Women in Audio organization she is excited to create designs and work alongside the steering committee.
Lauren Cash
Technical Support Director: Lauren Cash is a junior from Richmond Virginia. She is majoring in Music Production and Recording Arts with a minor in Professional Sales. She is very passionate about audio technology and the ways it can be used to connect people with others through music. She believes it is very important to have female representation within the Audio industry and has been inspired by the LWIA conference. As the technical director, Lauren hopes to create an atmosphere for the presenters and attendees that is both engaging and informative!
Paloma Dettloff
Director of Marketing: Paloma Dettloff is a junior at Elon double majoring in Physics and Music Production. She is passionate about engineering and is currently working on a research thesis in amp design. Paloma also loves the live music scene and occasionally performs with her band, the Paloma Jahms Quartet, as they work towards their first EP. This is Paloma’s first year on the steering committee and she is thrilled to spread the word about this amazing conference.
Andrew High
Online Management Director: Andrew High is a junior Music Production & Recording Arts major from Belmont, NC. He is very passionate about increasing representation in the studio and overall music workforce and sees the Leading Women in Audio Conference as a great way to spread that message. He learned a lot from the last two conferences and is looking forward to this year!
Fred Johnson
Conference Mentor: Fred Johnson is a member of the Music Production & Recording Arts faculty at Elon. He earned his BSM and MSRA degrees at the University of Colorado-Denver and developed a career in music, concert production, broadcasting and audio education. He is a member of the Audio Engineering Society and an Avid Certified Instructor in Pro Tools, Game Audio and Sibelius. “The tremendous growth in this conference during its short lifetime is evidence of the powerful voice that is rising among women in the audio industry. I am proud that our students have the chance to be involved in bringing visibility to this amazing community of professionals!”
Dr. Wen Guo
Communications Mentor: Wen Guo is an assistant professor in the Arts Administration Program at Elon University. She is thrilled to join the Elon community and the family of The Leading Women in Audio Conference in the fall of 2019. She graduated from Ohio State University with a doctoral degree in Cultural Policy and Arts Administration. She is passionate about supporting students-leading activities on gender disparity and career development in the creative sector.
