ELON COLLEGE – Elon College’s Career Center will host an open house
3-6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 17-18 in its new location in the Duke Building.
The event is open to area employers, alumni, students, faculty and staff. Several employers and Alpha Kappa Psi, a business fraternity, are supporting the opening.
“This is a new beginning for the Elon Career Center,” said Bob Orndorff, the center’s director. The center will offer more computers and programming for students, as well as a new database system, which allows for quicker searches for employment and internships opportunities. More geographic regions and careers also have been added to the center’s extensive list of employer contacts.
The center, which was formerly housed on Haggard Avenue, will offer an alumni career network called ElonNET, Orndorff said. It will allow students to communicate with Elon alumni and allow alumni to act as career mentors. Currently more than 800 alumni have volunteered to network with students.
