ELON COLLEGE – Sherrie Maricle and the all-female big band, Diva, will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Elon College.
The concert will be held in McCrary Theatre in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased or reserved at the Elon College Box Office, which is open 12:30-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Contact the box office at (336) 584-2199.
The 15-woman Diva, also called the “No Man’s Band,” has a vintage style like that of classic jazz orchestras. Along with vintage big-band music, they play modern original numbers. The band is led by drummer Sherrie Maricle and the lead trumpet player is Liesl Whitaker, who attended Appalachian State University.
Diva has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, the Kennedy Center and several national and international jazz festivals.
