ELON COLLEGE – Robert MacNeil, who has spent nearly 40 years in broadcast journalism and is one of the most respected television journalists in America, will speak Wednesday, March 10 at Elon College.
The former anchorman and executive editor of The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour will speak at 7:30 p.m. in McCrary Theatre in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on the college’s campus. He will discuss the differences in writing fact and fiction, a distinction he believes the news business may be blurring. The speech is free and open to the public.
MacNeil’s latest book, “Breaking News,” is a behind-the-scenes novel about the competitive world of television news.
During his journalism career, MacNeil has worked for the Reuters News Agency in London, NBC News and PBS, where he co-anchored the award-winning MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour for 20 years with Jim Lehrer.
MacNeil has won many awards and is a member of the Television Academy’s Hall of Fame. He is the author of several books, including the best sellers “Woodstruck” and the novels, “Burden of Desire” and “The Voyage.”
