Nationally acclaimed play to be performed at Elon College

ELON COLLEGE – The Elon College Department of Performing Arts will present the play, “Lend Me a Tenor,” Thursday-Sunday, April 15-18 in McCrary Theatre in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. Performances will be held 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the Model Center Box Office, 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information contact the box office at (336) 584-2199.

The play is set in Cleveland during the 1930s and follows the Cleveland Grand Opera Co. as it prepares to have a famous Italian tenor perform in its production of “Otello.” The play is “pure unadulterated laughter and fun,” says Fred Rubeck, assistant professor of performing arts. The plot is fast-paced. Eight students have roles and “all of them have worked very had,” he said. The play does contain some mildly mature language and subject matter.
