Retired FBI agent to speak April 28 at Elon College

ELON COLLEGE – Gregg O. McCrary, a retired FBI agent who currently is a crime analyst for NBC, will speak Wednesday, April 28 at Elon College.

The speech, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in Yeager Recital Hall in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. His speech is titled “Profiling Violent Minds.” The talk is sponsored by the criminal justice program and the Criminal Studies Club.

During his career in the FBI, McCrary had assignments at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va., and the field divisions in Buffalo, N.Y., New York City and Detroit.

McCrary has been a consultant to law enforcement agencies both nationally and internationally in more than 1,000 cases involving sexual homicide, serial murder, rape, arson, child abduction, child molestation and other violent crimes.

He has provided commentary for such media organizations as ABC, NBC, CBS, BBC, CNN, the Discovery Channel, The New York Times, The Washington Post and has appeared as an expert on violent crime for The Today Show, NBC Dateline, Larry King Live and Rivera Live. He recently has been interviewed about Eric Robert Rudolph, the suspect in a fatal Birmingham abortion clinic bombing and a string of Atlanta bombings. Federal agents have been searching the mountains of North Carolina, where they believe the suspect is hiding, for more than a year.
