Nigerian human rights organizer to speak Sept. 22 at Elon College

ELON COLLEGE – Hafsat Abiola, a Nigerian human rights and democracy organizer, will speak Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in McCrary Theatre in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. Admission is free.

Abiola is the 24-year-old daughter of the late Nigerian Chief Moshood Abiola. She is the founder and director of the Kudirat Institute for Democracy, which is named in honor of Abiola’s mother who was assassinated by rebels. The organization promotes the development of women and youths as change makers. The 1997 Harvard graduate is also a spokeswoman for the exiled Nigerian democracy movement.
