ELON COLLEGE, N.C. – A U.S. Department of Education grant of nearly $150,000 will fund a special international business initiative in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon College. The grant is one of 28 awarded nationwide under the department’s Business and International Education Program.
“This grant is a critical step in our efforts to put a greater focus on the globalization of our business curriculum,” said John Burbridge, dean of the Love School of Business. “Our students and faculty will have a greater opportunity to interact with regional businesses as they work to expand their markets to other countries.”
The two year grant will allow the Love School of Business to:
* internationalize the curriculum for majors in accounting, business administration and economics;
* expand study abroad opportunities for majors in business fields;
* provide foreign language faculty with funding to offer language courses designed for business students; and
* increase international outreach programming for the regional business community.
The Love School of Business has a five-year plan that includes a strong commitment to preparing its graduates to compete in the global marketplace.
The Love School of Business offers undergraduate majors in accounting, economics and business administration, with concentrations in management, marketing, finance, international management and management information systems. The school also offers a graduate program in business administration (MBA).
