Writer and film producer Paul Wilkes will be the annual Sigma Tau Delta English honor society speaker at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Elon’s Whitley Auditorium. Wilkes’ lecture titled, “Me? A Monk? Taking Monastic Wisdom into the Everyday Life,” is free and open to the public.
The author of several books on contemporary spirituality, including “Beyond the Walls,” Wilkes is the visiting professor of creative writing at UNC-Wilmington. He has written about the role of religious belief in individual lives, as well as the impact religion has on public life. A former reporter for the Baltimore Sun and the Boulder Daily Camera, Wilkes has also written for numerous national magazines, including The New Yorker.
