Lecture to focus on environmental problem solving, March 13

Arsenio Rodriguez will examine how the interests of both industry and conservation groups can be served in solving key environmental issues during a lecture at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 13 in McCrary Theatre, located on the Elon campus in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. The lecture, titled “The Total Ecosystem Approach: Combining Scientific Knowledge with Development Objectives,” is free and open to the public. Rodriguez’s visit is part of the Voices of Discovery speaker series, sponsored by the departments of Science and Mathematics.

Rodriguez is manager of the Latin American and Caribbean Environmental and Socially Sustainable Development Unit of the World Bank. He received a Ph.D. in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences form the University of Miami and has worked in national and international advisory positions to analyze local environmental issues. His lecture will emphasize the multidisciplinary approach to tackling those issues.
