Three Elon MBA students received honors in a recent competition sponsored by the N.C. Small Business & Technology Center. The Elon MBA Case competition team of Val Sachariason, Angela Rose and Derek Robinson received the 3rd place award for their work with Mama Dip’s Kitchen in Chapel Hill.
A total of 25 student teams participated in the competition. The contest, the first of its kind in the nation, gives student teams the opportunity to work with actual client companies and compete with other students for prize money.
Student teams meet with their client to determine a project, and spend three months working with the client to produce a written report, which is submitted to the contest judges.
The Elon team worked with Mildred Council and her family, owners of Mama Dip’s Kitchen, a well-known restaurant. The students developed a four-stage growth plan for the restaurant and suggested a succession plan for the family business.
With this award, Elon MBA teams have been among the winners for the past three years, the only school in the state to make such a claim.
