NASCAR driver Rick Mast, C.F. Sauer stock car to visit class Jan. 23

Elon students will get a close-up look at a NASCAR stock car when driver Rick Mast visits the Winter Term course “The Business of NASCAR” at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23 in Long Building, room 106. Mast’s #90 Duke’s Mayonnaise Ford, sponsored by C.F. Sauer Company of Richmond, Va., will be on display at 2:45 p.m., on E. Lebanon Ave., adjacent to the Long Building.
Mast joined the Junie Donlavey racing team late in the 2001 season, after regular driver Hut Stricklin left the team. A native of Rockbridge Baths, Va., Mast has started more than 350 Winston Cup Series races, although he is still looking for his first victory. Mast has won the pole during qualifying for four different events, including the inaugural Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis in 1994.
