The Department of Performing Arts will present “Rags” beginning at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on the Elon campus. Performances are also scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8-Saturday, Feb. 9, and at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10.
“Rags” follows a young Russian immigrant and her son on their fantastic journey to America. Written by Joe Stein, “Rags” sets the audience in the collision of cultures that marked New York City during the early 1900s. The play features a rousing musical score written by Charles Strouse.
The Elon production is directed and choreographed by Linda Sabo, with musical direction by Kenneth Lee.
Tickets are $10 or free with Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open between 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
