Women of faith to present storytelling session April 17

Six female storytellers will discuss their faith traditions at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, in Whitley Auditorium on the campus of Elon University. Admission is free and open to the public.

Louise Omoto Kessel, Marion Kalbacker, Surabhi Shah, Lisa Burley and Nina Aly Elshiekh, all professional storytellers, will narrate stories of faith in the Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Jain, Native American and Muslim traditions as part of the Five Faiths Project. The project was started by the Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill, N.C., and involves a series of workshops and performances by volunteer storytellers from the area.

Kessel, the Ackland Art Museum storyteller in residence and Five Faiths Projects director, arranged the event. The women will share their faith experience through religious, cultural and personal stories.
The storytelling session is sponsored by the Elon University Chaplain’s Office.
