Bill Bardin has been named director of corporate relations at Elon University. In his new role, Bardin will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships between the university and various local, state and regional corporations. He will also serve as a major gifts officer in the Institutional Advancement office.
“We are pleased to have Bill join our staff,” says Nan Perkins, vice president for institutional advancement. “His years of leadership and experience in business, combined with his active involvement in the local community, make Bill a natural fit for this position.”
Bardin joins Elon after working for Glen Raven Yarn Co., LLC, a yarn manufacturer and wholly-owned subsidiary of Glen Raven Inc., in Glen Raven, N.C. Since 1999, he served as president and chief operating officer of Glen Raven Yarn, managing more than 1,000 employees and six manufacturing sites. He also served as corporate vice president and secretary of Glen Raven Inc., from 1995-1999.
Bardin held a variety of senior level positions with Wachovia Corp., from 1980-1995, including senior vice president appointments in Burlington, N.C., and Charlotte, N.C. He began his career with General Electric Co., in 1977.
Active in a variety of community activities, Bardin currently serves on the board of Presbyterian Homes, Inc., and recently completed a term on the board of the United Way of Alamance County.
Bardin earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He also completed the financial management program at General Electric, the general management program at Wachovia and the management program at the Institute of Textile Technology.
