The Elon University Department of Performing Arts will hold auditions for the Meredith Willson musical “The Music Man” at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on campus. Children’s auditions will be held Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Adult performers should prepare 16-32 measures of an appropriate song. Dance auditions and readings from the script will also be conducted. For full casting consideration candidates will need to be available for the entire evening they audition.
Auditions for the children’s roles of Winthrop and Amaryllis, as well as for the children’s singing and dancing ensemble, will be held at 5:15 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Model Center. Children age 8 and older are invited to audition. No preparation is required. Candidates will learn a section of “Wells Fargo Wagon,” a song from the show that will be used for signing and dancing auditions.
