Forty-two new faculty members began teaching at Elon Tuesday, Aug. 27, as the university opened its 113th academic year. The new faculty members are listed below by schools:

- Bird Stasz, associate professor of education. Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College, master’s degree from the University of Vermont, and doctoral degree from Syracuse University. Previously taught at Wells College
- Hal Walker, associate professor of leisure/sport management. Bachelor’s degree from Brock University, master’s and doctoral degrees from The Ohio State University. Previously taught at Barry University.

- Kelli Burns, instructor in communications. Bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University, master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Currently enrolled in doctoral program at University of Florida. Previously taught at Middle Tennessee State University
- Nancy Engelhardt, assistant professor of communications. Bachelor’s degrees from Louisiana Tech University, master’s degree from Louisiana State University and doctoral degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Previously served as senior communications manager for the World Wildlife Fund in Washington, D.C.
- Anthony Earl Hatcher, associate professor of communications. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, doctoral degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously taught at Pfeiffer University

- Michael Skube, assistant professor of communications. Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. Recipient of the 1989 Pulitzer Prize in the category of Criticism, Skube previously taught at Indiana University
