Elon trustees honor faculty members

The Elon University Board of Trustees honored faculty members who hold named professorships during its fall meeting. The faculty members serve in a variety of disciplines and demonstrate leadership and scholarship in their work.

At a luncheon Oct. 9, trustees honored senior faculty holding named professorships and awarded medallions to several faculty members who have recently been named to their professorships. Senior faculty holding named professorships include:

  • Robert G. Blake, W.S. Long Professor of English
  • Janie P. Brown, Watts-Thompson Professor
  • J. Earl Danieley, president emeritus and Thomas E. Powell Jr. Professor
  • Eugene B. Grimley, T.E. Powell Jr. Professor of Chemistry
  • John G. Sullivan, Maude Sharpe Powell Professor
  • Thomas Tiemann, Jefferson Pilot Professor

Medallions were presented to:

  • James S. Bissett, William J. Story Sr. Professor of Southern History
  • David A. Copeland, A.J. Fletcher Professor
  • Russell B. Gill, Maude Sharpe Powell Professor of English
  • Thomas S. Henricks, J. Earl Danieley Professor
  • David Noer, Frank S. Holt Jr. Professor of Business Leadership
  • Karl Sienerth, Japheth E. Rawls Professor for Undergraduate Research in the Sciences
    Crista Lynn Coles, A.L. Hook Emerging Scholar, and Rebecca Todd Peters, Distinguished Emerging Scholar, were also recognized.
