Elon hosts visiting Fulbright Scholar

Elon University is hosting Fulbright visiting scholar Alesya Bogaevskaya during the 2002-03 academic year.

Bogaevskaya of Vladivostok, Russia, is one of approximately 800 outstanding foreign faculty and professionals the Fulbright Scholar program is sponsoring to teach and conduct research in the United States. Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program’s purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries.

Bogaevskaya, dean and chair of the department of management in the social sphere at Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok, will teach a course at Elon on management transformation in Russia and other Central and Eastern European countries.

The Fulbright program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. More than 250,000 American and foreign university students, K-12 teachers and university faculty and professionals have participated in one of several Fulbright exchange programs.

Recipients of Fulbright awards, both U.S. and foreign, are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievements and because they have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential in their fields.
