Nursing professor to deliver Sigma Tau Delta fall address October 23

Genevieve Bartol, professor emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will give the fall address for Elon University’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the national English honor society, at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on campus.

Bartol has worked as a nurse and teacher in the Phillipines, and has served as dean of the nursing school at UNC-Greensboro and Duke University. She developed instruments to measure conflict management styles and attitudes toward conflict management. She has also completed research on various teaching approaches, including the use of creative literature in nursing education. She continues to write professionally and do volunteer work in nursing.

Bartol’s speech, “Weaving Stories on Life’s Journey,” will discuss the healing value of narratives and story in medicine.
